Grammy-award winning singer Amy Winehouse and her husband Blake Fielder-Civil were today granted a divorce at London High Court.
The couple, who met in a London bar in 2005 and were married in Miami in May 2007, were granted a divorce by Judge Michael Segal during court proceedings which lasted only a few minutes, and were not present at the hearing.
Last month, the singer's parents said she was in constant denial over problems with alcohol and drug abuse.
Amy’s father, Mitch, who blamed Fielder-Civil for his daughter’s alcohol and drug addictions, said she was taking part in a drug programme but was still drinking.
In January, Fielder-Civil’s solicitor said he had been “instructed to commence divorce proceedings on the grounds of Amy’s adultery.”
Last July, Fielder-Civil was sentenced to 27 months imprisonment for assaulting a pub landlord in Hoxton, East London, in 2006.
It is reported that Winehouse has agreed to pay Fielder-Civil off with a £2.4 million settlement.
The star, who won five awards at last year's Grammys including song of the year and record of the year, both for her single Rehab, and best pop vocal album for Back To Black, has an estimated £10 million fortune.
